Sending save the dates isn’t mandatory but we do recommend it for a variety of reasons, such as providing your guests with plenty of time to make any travel plans (if necessary).
If you’re having a destination wedding then Save the Dates are a must. Those situations require a lengthy heads-up, so mailing a Save the Date well in advance increases the chances of guests being able to attend your wedding.
There are no rules when it comes to wedding stationery! We understand that you may not yet know the intended style or theme of your wedding at the time of sending out your Save the Dates. With that in mind, we recommend that you choose a design that you like and gives your guests a little glimpse of you as a couple.

We recommend that you send your save the dates at least eight to ten months before the wedding. This will give your guests ample time to request days off from work and make travel plans, if needed.
However, if you're planning on having a destination wedding, aim to send them ten months to a year in advance.
